You’re invited to the 1st “Safari Art Jam” on August 13th: Creativity, Conservation & Collaboration in Naguru, Kampala

Inspired by the words of the legendary Sir David Attenborough, who emphasised the powerful connection between art and our natural world, we’re excited to launch this event in Kampala, the first of its kind! We hope you’ll join us for a family fun day where art and environmental concerns unite.

  • Date: Sunday, August 13th
  • Time: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Pop in for a bit, or stay for a while)
  • Cost: Free
  • Venue: “Kyoto Foundation” (google maps), Naguru, Kampala

What to Expect:

We will make a large 4ft by 4ft painting that everyone takes part in! Led by some of the most talented young artists in Uganda, this collaborative artwork will bring attention to many of the great animals under threat in our Ugandan National Parks. You’re invited to get properly stuck in, to leave your creative mark or to  just watch the masterpiece unfold –  up to you.. We will encourage the former!

Creative Vibes:

Feel the rhythm of the wild as animal-themed tunes set the mood – awimbaway etc! Drop into our drawing art class and bring your favourite African animal to life on paper (prizes for the best ones!). We’ll show the occasional wildlife themed film too, to help entertain and educate you all a e afternoon progresses.

Raffle for a Cause:

A photo of the final artwork will be sent to you when it’s completed (so you have a copy of the masterpiece you helped to create) – and the main artwork will be available to win in the ‘Safari Art Jam Raffle’!

The event is entirely free, all we ask is that you kindly sell the raffle tickets for 10k UGX each to your friends and family. We’ll hand out the raffle tickets for you to sell during the art jam, and the winner will be announced on the following Sunday 20th August.

All the funds raised will help to support our mission to use art and science to inspire tomorrow’s sustainability champions, and provide free art classes to the kids in the local Naguru community – many of whom will be present at the art jam too, and making their mark!

Be a Part of the Pilot:

This Safari Art Jam isn’t just an event; it’s a stepping stone towards something bigger. You’ll not only be our esteemed guest but also a valued critic, for our first one ever, helping us shape the future of this creative endeavour. Your feedback and support will pave the way for us to take this unique concept to schools, events, and festivals all across Kampala.

Our studio is tiny weeny, so we’d love to know if you can make it please?

Let’s come together to celebrate creativity, showcase Ugandan talent, and nurture a sense of responsibility towards our environment. The Safari Art Jam promises an afternoon of artistic excitement, community spirit, and a touch of organised chaos – the Kampala way of art jamming!
